The basic principles of optical methods of analysis based on the use of electromagnetic radiation in the ultraviolet, visible and infrared regions of the spectrum are described. Laboratory works on spectrophotometry and photometry, IR-spectroscopy, flame emission spectroscopy and refractometry are given. Examples of control questions are given. Methods for conducting laboratory work are given. A glossary of optical terms is provided.
